Operations and legal editing for solo/small firms.

You became a lawyer to practice law. Not to strategize operations, edit your own investigation reports, or design brand assets past midnight. I’m Suji, and I lighten your load so you can do the work only you can do.

Get Started!

You bring the vision. I’ll bring the second brain.

I help solo and small-firm lawyers to streamline their practice through sharper writing and editing, thoughtful design, and purposeful operational systems.

As a former Operations Director at a boutique employment law firm for almost a decade, I built systems that kept a busy practice moving, strategizing with leadership on tech adoption and risk management policies, and serving as lead editor on workplace investigation reports and designer for marketing documents.

I love all aspects of this work, and I've come to believe that clean, error-free work products and smooth law practice operations come from the same instinct: paying attention to what the partners really want to accomplish.

I hold a B.A. in English Language and Literature Studies and a Certification in Implementing Agentic AI from the MIT Sloan School of Management. I will complete my M.A. in Creative Leadership from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design in 2027.

My Approach

Our work together begins with a discovery discussion where I listen carefully to learn how you actually work. I synthesize your style, your comfort level with technology, and the pace at which you would like change to happen. Then I help you to turn what feels tangled into something clear and cohesive, checking in regularly to ensure we are on the same page.

Operations FAQs

  • The most common ones are firms outgrowing their current setup: practice management software that no longer fits, intake processes that leak clients, billing workflows that take too long, or a tech stack that's grown by accident rather than design. I also help with the "I know we need better systems but I don't know where to start" version of this. We begin with a conversation about where things feel stuck, then prioritize what will give you the most relief soonest.

  • I can be. I work primarily as an operations thought and implementation partner. Fractional COO can imply executive-level decision-making and headcount management, which isn't usually what a solo or small firm needs. What you typically need is someone who can evaluate tools, design workflows, document processes, and help you make confident operational decisions without committing to a full-time hire or a long-term contract. That's the work I do.

  • Both, depending on what you need. I can do the full implementation, such as facilitating the set up of your intake and case management platform, building intake workflows, writing your SOPs, and training your team. Or, I can do the strategic work and hand off implementation to you or your team with clear documentation. Many clients start with advisory work and expand into implementation once they see the difference.

  • I've worked hands-on with Clio (billing, intake, and matter management), Box and Google Workspace for cloud document and knowledge management, LastPass for credentials, Calendly for scheduling, and Grammarly for drafting and analysis. I’m currently increasing my familiarity with MyCase. I've also evaluated new tools many times, so even with software I haven't used directly, I know how to assess fit and run a thoughtful implementation. If you're considering a switch, between practice management platforms, for example, I can help you make the call without bias toward any vendor.

  • It varies. A focused project, like evaluating a new practice management system or rebuilding your intake workflow, usually takes 4 to 8 weeks. Ongoing operations support is often structured as a monthly retainer, with a few hours each week reserved for whatever's most pressing. For firms in transition (growing, splitting, switching platforms), I sometimes work more intensively for a few weeks or months and then taper off as systems stabilize. We'll talk about what makes sense during our discovery call.

  • Starting small is often smarter. Many clients begin with a single project such as an intake audit, a tech stack evaluation, or a specific workflow rebuild, to see how we work together before discussing ongoing support. There's no pressure to commit upfront, and I'll never push a retainer that doesn't make sense for your firm's stage.

Editing/Design FAQs

  • Yes, this is one of my core specialties and something I really enjoy doing. I worked for 8.5 years at a busy employment law firm specializing in workplace investigations. Throughout my time there, I worked hands-on with investigation reports on a regular basis, handling everything from structural editing and formatting to ensuring consistency in findings and conclusions. I understand the level of precision these documents demand, and I know how a small formatting inconsistency or unclear sentence can undermine an otherwise thorough investigation. Whether you need a full proofreading, a formatting overhaul, or help with how well the content flows, I can step in at whatever stage you need.

  • Confidentiality is foundational to everything I do. Having worked in legal operations and as the cybersecurity lead at my previous firm, I understand the sensitivity of the documents you're trusting me with. I'm happy to sign an NDA before any work begins, and I use secure file-sharing methods to exchange documents. I never store client materials beyond the active project unless we agree otherwise, and I don't use client content for marketing or portfolio purposes without explicit written permission. If your firm has specific security protocols you'd like me to follow, I'm glad to accommodate those as well.

  • I'll provide a clear timeline during our discovery call. If you're working against a hard deadline, let me know upfront. I can often accommodate rush requests and will always be transparent about what's realistic.

Every project includes two rounds of revisions as part of the base agreement. If additional revisions are needed beyond that, we'll discuss a fair adjustment before any extra work begins.

  • Yes, AI helps me to work smarter and saves time so that I can keep my hourly and flat fees affordable for you. I use AI-assisted tools to enhance efficiency in my writing and design workflow, but every deliverable is shaped, reviewed, and finalized by me. My legal editorial experience is what ensures accuracy, tone, and context.

Your data ALWAYS stays protected. I never upload confidential client documents or personally identifiable information into any public AI tool. When I use AI for drafting or ideation, I work with generalized prompts that don't include sensitive details from your files. If your firm has specific AI usage policies, I'm happy to adjust my workflow accordingly.

  • Absolutely. As a designer, this comes very naturally to me. Before writing or designing anything, I'll ask for any existing brand guidelines, style guides, or examples of content you feel represents your voice well. If you don't have a formal guide, that's fine too. I'll review your existing website, published articles, or past materials to get a feel for your tone and preferences, and I'll confirm alignment with you before moving forward. The goal is that anything I produce sounds like it came from your team, and not an outsider.

  • Every project is different, so I quote based on scope, complexity, and turnaround rather than a one-size-fits-all rate. To give you a sense: writing and editing projects typically run 3 to 6 hours, investigation report editing ranges from 2 to 10 hours depending on length and condition, and slide decks usually need at least 4 hours for 8 to 10 slides.

I work hourly (with weekday and weekend/rush rates) or on a flat fee for most projects. Ongoing work such as a monthly blog cadence or recurring report formatting, can be structured as a retainer, which often comes with a built-in discount.

No hidden fees, and I'll never go beyond the agreed scope without discussing it first.
